RSP Architecture

Tsai Chung Jay who was only named Jay during our lecture was the representitive guest speaker from RSP architects planners & engineers. It was nice to know that he was a student who graduated from Glasgow School of Arts in Glasgow years back, knowing this gave us a sense of familarity as if we could just look up to him as our senior.

It was nice hearing him talk though about the various plannings of these mega projects involving famous buildings in Singapore that we all know of like Ion Orchard, Jcube, Wheelock Place, Orchard Country Club, *SCAPE, etc. Their company is huge as they plan and built Commercial buildings, Hotels, Service Apartments, Industrial, Infrastructure, Institution, Master Planning, Offices, Recreational and Residential. Not only in Singapore but for projects overseas as well, where they help to plan and built urban, industrial, residential, business, retail, hotel, resort districts and etc. All these are mega planning and structures, involcing land planning not only 2D but 3D planning as well, as of how high structures can be and such.

Although I am not an architect student but it was really interesting to learn about how they work with plannings, the details and problems they go through. Through this presentation, Jay mentioned why documentation is important, as they are parta nd partial of research work. Also the importance of information sharing as collegues that are researching in the same topic 5 - 10 years later can still be referenced.
